After you’ve adopted your cat, you’ll need a cage, and Paul advises a top-loading carrier. This sort of carrier allows you to open the roof, pick up your cat, and place them inside. It’s much easier to get them into the carrier this way rather than trying to get them in through a door. Some cats will resist and struggle as you attempt to put them in.
There’s an easy solution if you already have a carrier with a classic swing-out door. Place the carrier on its end so the door faces the ceiling when you’re ready to load your cat, according to Paul.
