Your New Kitten’s First 30 Days

Assure the kitten has access to all of their fundamental needs in their little secure space, including where to find the litter boxes, where to eat, and where to drink. Allow the kitten to nap if it wants to. If the kitten gets scared and wants to snuggle up inside the carrier you brought it home in, keep it nearby. If not, provide another safe hiding place, such as a box.

A new kitten will frequently hide at initially, even for the first few days as it gets used to all the changes. It will gradually come out of hiding each day as long as it has all it needs and plenty of quiet time to itself. Avoid attempting to force it out because doing so might lead to excessive anxiety and bad connections with people or objects in your home.
