If your other cat isn’t yet getting along with the new kitten and you have another cat, don’t become concerned. It can take more than 30 days for your cat to get used to this, as the procedure can be long. These synthetic relaxing pheromones can be used as a diffuser in a room where both cats spend time or as a spray that can be applied to their beds or other shared spaces to assist all the cats in the home acclimatizing. Making their interactions more enjoyable by playing with both cats simultaneously, treating them with food, and/or participating in other activities your cats enjoy, such as grooming, while the new kitten is along may help in their bonding.
It is wise to temporarily separate them if one cat shows signs of being stressed out, frightened, or aggressive behavior during these sessions. The ideal strategy is always a slow introduction, which might vary in duration depending on the personality of the cat. When your cats finally bond and you get to enjoy seeing them play, snuggle, and even groom one another, the time and patience you put into it will be well worth it.
